Dean Vander Mey spent most of his life in the business world. At age 15 he started a business and it grew for 24 years into several ventures until 1999 when God called him into ministry. Dean was a founding board member of SFM in 1996 and has served as its Executive Director since July 2002. Dean has trained extensively in prayer and biblical counseling with Elijah House Ministries, International Center for Biblical Counseling, and Center for Judaic-Christian studies. In the past Dean has served on church boards, school boards, and Youth for Christ board. Dean has been married to Sharie for 23 years and the Lord has blessed them with 7 daughters. In 2007 Sam Wierenga, age 13, joined the Vander Mey family after his mothers passing.

Paul Tameling has extensive experience in counseling and substance abuse issues. A prison Chaplain for more than twenty-five years, he also served as Chaplain for an inner city rescue mission. Paul has lectured throughout the United States, Africa, Caribbean and Europe. His credentials include a Ph.D. from Western Michigan University and a D. Min. degree from Agape College/Seminary.
